Description
Delicious flaky puff pastry filled with savory ham and gooey cheese, perfect as a snack, appetizer, or main dish.
Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets (thawed)
- 8 oz sliced ham
- 8 oz shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon mustard (optional, for added flavor)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets until they are about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut the rolled-out pastry into rectangles (about 3×4 inches).
- On half of the rectangles, place a slice of ham and a sprinkle of cheese. Optionally, spread mustard on the ham before adding cheese.
- Top with remaining pastry rectangles and press edges to seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top if desired.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can assemble and freeze the stacks before baking to save time. Use different cheeses or meats for customization.
