Description

Delicious and visually appealing cookies using the wet-on-wet technique, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (variety of colors for decoration)
  • Royal icing (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies.
  7. Place cookies onto prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Once cool, decorate using royal icing in various colors and apply wet-on-wet designs.

Notes

Ensure cookies are completely cool before icing. Use gel food coloring for vibrant shades. Allow royal icing to dry fully for best results.
