Description

Delightful cinnamon sugar cookies with a soft, chewy texture, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for rolling)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place on ungreased baking sheets and flatten slightly.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
