Description

Delicious and chewy brownie cookies made with sourdough discard, perfect for satisfying chocolate cravings while reducing food waste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the sourdough discard, melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze them with parchment paper in between to prevent sticking.
