Ingredients
- 1 piece Beef Roast (chuck or round cut)
- 1 medium Onion (sliced)
- 4 cups Beef Broth (low-sodium)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
- 1/4 cup Cold Water
- 6 slices Bread (white or Texas toast)
- 4 cups Mashed Potatoes
Instructions
- Season beef roast with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Layer sliced onion at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place seasoned beef roast on top of the onions.
- Mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce in a bowl and pour over the beef roast.
- Sprinkle dried thyme over the beef.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours until the meat is tender.
- Remove beef, and mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry; stir into the remaining liquid and cook for 15 minutes until thickened.
- Shred the beef and mix back into the gravy.
- Serve beef on slices of bread topped with gravy and a scoop of mashed potatoes on the side.
Notes
For added flavor, consider searing the beef before slow cooking. Use fresh ingredients for a richer taste.
