Ingredients
- 1 standing rib roast (prime rib), 5–6 lbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary and thyme)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Rub the standing rib roast with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped fresh herbs. Spread this mixture all over the roast.
- Place the roast fat-side up in a roasting pan.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C).
- Continue cooking for about 90 to 120 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness.
- Rest the roast for 20-30 minutes before slicing to serve.
