A creamy and cheesy delight with layers of thinly sliced potatoes in a rich four-cheese sauce, perfect for gatherings and cozy dinners.
Ingredients
- 3 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 types of cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, gouda)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in the heavy cream, followed by salt and pepper, and mix in the cheeses until melted and smooth.
- In a greased baking dish, layer the thinly sliced potatoes, pouring the cheese sauce over each layer.
- Repeat this process until you’ve used all the potatoes and cheese sauce, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
- Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Slice potatoes evenly for better cooking. Experiment with cheese varieties for different flavors. Allow the dish to rest after baking for easier serving.
