Description

A comforting meatloaf with a unique glaze made from brown sugar, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce for the glaze.
  5. Spread half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, spread the remaining glaze over the meatloaf, and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature for perfect cooking.
