Description
A comforting, classic meatloaf recipe that brings back memories of family dinners with its delicious glaze and hearty flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 3 slices bread (torn into small pieces)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder (or 1/2 cup finely chopped onion)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry ground mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce (optional, to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup ketchup
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to preheat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, milk, egg, torn bread pieces, Worcestershire sauce, onion (powder or finely chopped), salt, dry ground mustard, black pepper, hot sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
- Press the mixture into an ungreased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a sheet pan.
- Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top for glazing.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, add sautéed garlic or diced bell peppers. For a moister meatloaf, consider more milk or shredded carrots. Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing helps retain moisture.
