Description

A hearty, comforting dish combining tender ground beef, soft potatoes, and creamy cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until onion is translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in the paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  6. Spread the beef mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Layer the remaining slices of potatoes on top.
  8. In a bowl, combine beef broth and sour cream; pour over the layered potatoes and beef.
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Slice the potatoes thinly for even cooking. Add vegetables like bell peppers for more flavor. For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
