Spinach cottage cheese flagels are a delightful and nutritious alternative to traditional bagels, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Cottage Cheese
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 large Egg
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 cups Baby Spinach
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Finely chop the spinach and squeeze out excess moisture.
- In a food processor, combine the cottage cheese, olive oil, and egg. Pulse until mostly smooth.
- Add the flour, baking powder, and salt; pulse until the dough is sticky but manageable.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl and fold in the spinach and mozzarella until evenly distributed.
- Lightly flour your hands and form the dough into 6-8 equal pieces, shaping each into a flattened ring.
- Place flagels on the baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Bake for 12-16 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding minced garlic or onion powder to the dough. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
