Description
Delightful cookies combining the rich flavors of chocolate with the festive spirit of red velvet.
Ingredients
- 7 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted, softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
- 18 Hershey chocolate kisses
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until smooth.
- Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring gel. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; mix until the flour mixture disappears.
- Scoop out 18 equally sized cookie dough balls and roll them in red sanding sugar.
- Place cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
- Press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie immediately after removing them from the oven.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Notes
Chill the dough if it’s too sticky. Don’t overbake for soft cookies.
