Description

A nutritious and delicious alternative to traditional beef burgers, oven-baked cabbage burgers are flavorful and versatile.

Ingredients

  • 1 small head Cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 cup Cheese (for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Wash the cabbage and cut it into thick slices. Lightly brush both sides with olive oil and place the slices on the baking sheet.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg if using. Mix until well combined.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into patties that will fit atop the cabbage slices.
  5. Place the patties on top of the cabbage slices on your baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F / 74°C).
  7. In the last few minutes of baking, sprinkle cheese over the patties.
  8. Once done, let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Try various cheeses for different flavors; ensure even thickness for patties for consistent cooking.
