Description
A nutritious and delicious alternative to traditional beef burgers, oven-baked cabbage burgers are flavorful and versatile.
Ingredients
- 1 small head Cabbage (cut into thick slices)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
- 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
- 1 cup Cheese (for sprinkling on top)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Wash the cabbage and cut it into thick slices. Lightly brush both sides with olive oil and place the slices on the baking sheet.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg if using. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into patties that will fit atop the cabbage slices.
- Place the patties on top of the cabbage slices on your baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F / 74°C).
- In the last few minutes of baking, sprinkle cheese over the patties.
- Once done, let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Try various cheeses for different flavors; ensure even thickness for patties for consistent cooking.
