Description

A hearty and comforting breakfast dish with crispy hash browns, savory sausage, and gooey cheese, perfect for brunch gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz can of Pillsbury Grands! Buttermilk Biscuits, cut into pieces
  • 1 lb Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage, browned
  • 3 cups of frozen Ore-Ida Shredded Hash Browns
  • 1 packet (2.75 oz) of McCormick Gravy Mix, Sausage Flavor
  • 2 cups of milk for preparing the gravy
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • A pinch of black pepper (about 1/4 teaspoon)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the sausage in a pan on medium heat, breaking it into small pieces, and discard excess grease.
  3. Spread the hash browns evenly in the baking dish as the first layer, then add the cooked sausage on top.
  4. In a bowl, combine the gravy mix with the milk and whisk until smooth. Pour it over the sausage and potato layers.
  5. Evenly spread the shredded cheddar over the casserole layers.
  6. Quarter the biscuits and space them out across the top of the dish.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the biscuits are puffed and golden brown. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, bake the hash browns for a few minutes before adding the sausage and gravy mix. This dish can be easily made vegetarian with the right substitutions.
