Description

A delightful twist on classic Middle Eastern street food featuring seasoned ground beef, fresh vegetables, and a bed of rice or quinoa, topped with tahini sauce or yogurt.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups cooked rice or quinoa
  • 1 cup diced cucumber
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Tahini sauce or yogurt for drizzling (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  4. Stir in cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. In bowls, layer cooked rice or quinoa, seasoned ground beef, diced cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, and parsley.
  6. Drizzle with tahini sauce or yogurt if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For additional flavor, use fresh spices and consider adding crushed red pepper flakes for heat. You can prep the veggies ahead of time.
