Description

A delightful twist on traditional chili, featuring ground beef and the unique flavors of gochujang, a Korean chili paste.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the pot, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in black beans, diced tomatoes, gochujang, soy sauce, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped cilantro.

Notes

Can be served with rice or cornbread. A dollop of sour cream or shredded cheese complements the spice well.
