Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and molasses until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of chilled dough and roll them in powdered sugar.
  8. Place the rolled cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set.
  10. Allow to cool before enjoying.
