Description
A delicious combination of classic meatloaf and French onion soup flavors, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 10-12 minutes until caramelized. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, French onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Add the cooled onions and mix well.
- Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan and shape into a loaf. Bake for 50-60 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- While baking, mix the ketchup, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce for the glaze. After 40 minutes of baking, spread the glaze over the meatloaf and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with sides like mashed potatoes or green beans.
Notes
For a stronger onion flavor, consider adding more onions to the mixture. You can also add cheese for a cheesy twist.
