Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and chopped onions. Sauté until softened.
  3. Add garlic and carrots, cooking for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef or lamb, cooking until browned.
  5. Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, peas, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Top with prepared mashed potatoes, spreading them to cover the meat.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is slightly golden.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use leftover mashed potatoes to save time. For a crispy topping, broil the dish for a few minutes after baking.
