Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and chopped onions. Sauté until softened.
- Add garlic and carrots, cooking for about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef or lamb, cooking until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, peas, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
- Top with prepared mashed potatoes, spreading them to cover the meat.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is slightly golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Use leftover mashed potatoes to save time. For a crispy topping, broil the dish for a few minutes after baking.
