Delightful golden, crispy churros perfect for dipping in rich chocolate sauce.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more for frying
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of white sugar with 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, the salt, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms.
- Allow the dough to cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a pastry bag fitted with a large star pastry tip.
- Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 375°F (190°C). Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to desired length.
- Fry churros for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove churros from oil and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream until it begins to simmer.
- Remove from heat, add chopped dark chocolate, and stir until smooth.
Notes
Make sure the oil temperature is correct for ideal frying results.
