Description

Delightful golden, crispy churros perfect for dipping in rich chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more for frying
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of white sugar with 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, the salt, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms.
  4. Allow the dough to cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a pastry bag fitted with a large star pastry tip.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 375°F (190°C). Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to desired length.
  6. Fry churros for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove churros from oil and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream until it begins to simmer.
  9. Remove from heat, add chopped dark chocolate, and stir until smooth.

Notes
