Description

Delmonico Potatoes are a rich and creamy side dish featuring layers of thinly sliced potatoes, cheddar cheese, and a savory cream mixture, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter, then sauté the onions until translucent.
  5. Add the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper; stir to combine.
  6. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes in the dish.
  7. Add the remaining potato slices and top with the rest of the cream mixture.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and dust with paprika.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic or other herbs to the cream mixture. This dish can be prepared a day in advance and baked on the serving day.
