A comforting and flavorful pepper steak made easily in a crock pot, perfect for busy families.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 2-inch strips
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cube beef bouillon
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, with liquid
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Sprinkle the beef sirloin strips with garlic powder, ensuring each piece is seasoned for optimal flavor.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil. Once hot, sear the beef for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
- Once seared, transfer the beef strips to your crock pot.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve the beef bouillon cube in hot water. Then, add the cornstarch and mix until smooth.
- Pour the bouillon and cornstarch mixture over the beef in the slow cooker. Add the chopped onions, green bell peppers, stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Stir gently to combine.
- Cover your crock pot and cook on High for 240 minutes or on Low for 480 minutes.
- When ready, serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
