Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips (or your favorite mix-ins)
- Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Drop dollops of cookie dough onto the baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Let cool on the sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For chewier cookies, refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Experiment with various mix-ins for different flavors.
