Ingredients
- 8 oz dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Cocoa powder for coating
- Chopped nuts for coating (optional)
Instructions
- Chop the dark chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for a few minutes to melt the chocolate.
- Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Add the rum and powdered sugar, mixing until well combined.
- Refrigerate the mixture for about 120 minutes, or until firm enough to handle.
- Once firm, use a melon baller or your hands to form small balls of the truffle mixture.
- Roll each ball in cocoa powder or chopped nuts to coat.
- Place the truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve or gift.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Let sit at room temperature before serving for better flavor.
