A quick and easy recipe for Crispy Chinese Honey Garlic Chicken that’s better than takeout.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
- Vegetable or canola oil, enough to fill skillet about 1 inch
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Pinch of salt
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) to keep chicken warm between batches.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil, adding a rack if available.
- In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients and set aside.
- Pour vegetable or canola oil into a skillet, preparing for frying the chicken.
- Fry the chicken pieces in batches until crispy, then remove and keep warm.
- Coat chicken pieces with sauce and serve garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
Marinate chicken for better flavor and fry in small batches for perfect crispiness.
