Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
- Dip each chicken breast in the eggs, then in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Place the browned chicken in a baking dish. Top each piece with marinara sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in Italian dressing for a couple of hours before cooking. Use freshly grated cheese for the best taste and texture.
