Description

A classic Italian-American dish with tender chicken, crunchy breadcrumbs, marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for family dinners and special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Olive oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs.
  4. Dip each chicken breast in the eggs, then in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Place the browned chicken in a baking dish. Top each piece with marinara sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in Italian dressing for a couple of hours before cooking. Use freshly grated cheese for the best taste and texture.
