Description

Start your day with a satisfying breakfast grilled cheese sandwich packed with protein and rich flavors.


Ingredients

  • ½ pound ground chicken breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs, beaten
  • 8 slices Colby-Jack cheese
  • 4 tablespoons soft butter, divided
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • Optional: tomato slices, spinach, avocado, or mayonnaise


Instructions

  1. Cook the ground chicken sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Transfer to a paper towel-lined bowl to drain excess grease.
  2. In the skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and pour in the beaten eggs. Scramble gently until just set, mixing in the cooked sausage.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread. In the skillet, place one slice of bread, buttered side down, layer with cheese, sausage-egg mixture, another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
  4. Cook over medium heat for about 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted inside.
  5. Remove from skillet, let rest for a minute, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Cooking on medium heat prevents burning while allowing the cheese to melt thoroughly.
