Start your day with a satisfying breakfast grilled cheese sandwich packed with protein and rich flavors.
Ingredients
- ½ pound ground chicken breakfast sausage
- 6 large eggs, beaten
- 8 slices Colby-Jack cheese
- 4 tablespoons soft butter, divided
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- Optional: tomato slices, spinach, avocado, or mayonnaise
Instructions
- Cook the ground chicken sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Transfer to a paper towel-lined bowl to drain excess grease.
- In the skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and pour in the beaten eggs. Scramble gently until just set, mixing in the cooked sausage.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. In the skillet, place one slice of bread, buttered side down, layer with cheese, sausage-egg mixture, another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook over medium heat for about 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted inside.
- Remove from skillet, let rest for a minute, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Cooking on medium heat prevents burning while allowing the cheese to melt thoroughly.
