Description

A creamy, rich holiday drink that combines eggs, cream, and warming spirits for a festive cheer.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup granulated sweetener (like erythritol for low-carb)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk (or almond milk for low-carb)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup bourbon or rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the eggs and sweetener together until creamy.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk over medium heat, but do not boil.
  3. Gradually pour the hot mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook on low heat until it thickens slightly (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, nutmeg, and bourbon or rum if using.
  6. Cool the eggnog in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. Serve chilled with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.

Notes

Serve your boozy eggnog in festive glasses, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon. Can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
