A creamy, rich holiday drink that combines eggs, cream, and warming spirits for a festive cheer.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1/3 cup granulated sweetener (like erythritol for low-carb)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup milk (or almond milk for low-carb)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup bourbon or rum (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and sweetener together until creamy.
- In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk over medium heat, but do not boil.
- Gradually pour the hot mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook on low heat until it thickens slightly (about 5-7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, nutmeg, and bourbon or rum if using.
- Cool the eggnog in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve chilled with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
Notes
Serve your boozy eggnog in festive glasses, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon. Can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
