Ingredients

  • 4 chicken leg quarters
  • 23 tablespoons BBQ seasoning (low sugar)
  • ½ cup apple juice
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup water


Instructions

  1. Start by removing all visible fat from the chicken quarters.
  2. Generously rub the BBQ seasoning all over the chicken leg quarters.
  3. Preheat your gas grill to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Place the chicken leg quarters on the grill in the center, where the burners are off.
  5. Cover the grill and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Mix the apple juice with the ½ cup of water in a spray bottle or bowl.
  7. After the initial cooking time, spray or baste the chicken with the apple juice mixture.
  8. Carefully turn the chicken using tongs.
  9. Cover and repeat the basting process every 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. Check the internal temperature of the chicken to reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  11. Baste both sides of the chicken with barbecue sauce and place back on the grill for 5 minutes.
  12. Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep the grill clean and avoid lifting the lid too often for optimal results.
