These BBQ Chicken Sliders are perfect for gatherings, featuring smoky flavors, tender chicken, melted gouda cheese, and zesty onions.
Ingredients
- 12 slider buns
- 1 pound cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce, divided
- 1/2 cup cooked red onion, thinly sliced
- 7 ounces thinly sliced smoked gouda cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken and Onions: Cook and shred 1 pound of chicken and slice 1/2 cup of red onion thinly. Sauté in a non-stick skillet until soft and translucent.
- Mix the Chicken and Sauce: In a bowl, combine shredded chicken with 1 cup of barbecue sauce and stir until fully coated.
- Assemble the Sliders: Place the bottom halves of the slider buns on a sheet pan and spread the BBQ chicken mixture over them.
- Add More Sauce: Drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce over the chicken on each bun.
- Top It Off: Layer the red onion slices and then the smoked gouda cheese on each slider.
- Complete the Assembly: Place the top halves of the slider buns on and cover with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes.
- Final Touches: Whisk together melted butter, salt, pepper, and parsley. Brush the mixture on the sliders after removing them from the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oven and serve warm.
Notes
Use leftover rotisserie chicken for convenience, and feel free to customize the cheese and sauce to your preferences.
