Description
A simple and flavorful way to enjoy BBQ chicken legs baked to perfection in the oven.
Ingredients
- 12 chicken drumsticks
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Combine the olive oil, garlic salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, and onion powder in a large bowl or ziplock bag. Mix well.
- Add the chicken drumsticks and ensure they are fully coated with the spice mixture.
- Place the coated drumsticks on the baking sheet without overcrowding.
- Bake for 20 minutes to start cooking the chicken.
- Remove from the oven and coat each drumstick generously with BBQ sauce.
- Return to the oven and continue baking for another 20–25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Increase the oven temperature to 450 degrees for the last 5 minutes for extra crispiness.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, consider marinating the chicken overnight with the spice mix and olive oil. Ensure the chicken pieces are similar in size for even cooking.
