Description
Delicious and easy-to-make spiced potato burgers, perfect for a meatless meal or a satisfying snack.
Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed)
- 1 white bread slice (soaked in water or ½ cup breadcrumbs)
- ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chat masala
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- ¼ teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 green chili (chopped, optional)
- ¼ cup chopped onions
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander (cilantro leaves)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (for coating)
- Oil (for shallow frying)
- 4 brioche or regular burger buns (split)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup chili mayonnaise
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 1 large ripe tomato (thinly sliced)
- French fries (to serve)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, soaked bread or breadcrumbs, turmeric, cumin, chat masala, garam masala, red chili powder, chopped green chili (if using), onions, and coriander leaves. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Shape the mixture into small round patties.
- Coat each patty in breadcrumbs for a crispy texture.
- Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying. Fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove from the pan and place them on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
- Toast the burger buns in the same pan with a little butter until golden.
- Spread chili mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a hot aloo tikki patty on top, followed by sliced onions and tomatoes. Add more mayonnaise if desired, and cap with the top bun.
Notes
Extra toppings like lettuce or cheese can be added. For a healthier option, consider baking the patties instead of frying.
