Ingredients
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- ¼ cup shortening
- ¾ cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 500°F.
- Put flour into a large bowl; whisk to fluff.
- Add shortening and blend until it resembles cornmeal.
- Add milk and stir until sticky dough forms.
- Knead a few times until smooth.
- Pat dough until it’s about ¾ inch thick.
- Cut out biscuits using a cutter or glass.
- Place on a greased or lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-12 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For best results, use cold shortening or butter, and avoid overworking the dough.
